Public Sale of portions of Olive Street, Hobart Street and Maple Street, all on the Arlington Heights Official Map No. 31, Gila County Records.

Background Information

On December 4, 2018, during a regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors, the Board directed staff to begin the process to dispose of an unnecessary public roadway being a portion of Olive Street, Hobart Street and Maple Street. Staff began the necessary notifications and public postings of the Board’s decision.

Arlington Heights was recorded in 1911. Some of the roads and alleys in the subdivision have never been constructed or completed. Many have been vacated in the past. These roadways have never been built. There are five (5) adjacent owners along the portions of Olive Street, Hobart Street and Maple Street. All landowners have been contacted and given the option to exercise preference rights before the proposed date of sale or appear at the public sale and submit a bid for the portion adjacent to their property.

The adjacent landowners have submitted bids for portions of Olive St., Hobart St., and Maple St. that adjoins their property. The bids meet the minimum requirement established by the current Gila County policy on abandonment of roadways in Gila County.

Evaluation

Abandoning the portions of Olive Street, Hobart Street and Maple Street will not deny anyone access to their property.

Conclusion

It is the best interest of all involved to abandon portions of the roads.

Recommendation

It is the recommendation of the Public Works Department Director that the Board of Supervisors accept a bid from: Mona Kerlock in the amount of $859 for Olive Street, Hobart Street and Maple Street; Glenda Estevane in the amount of $103 for Olive Street; Patrick and Helen Medrano in the amount of $13 for Olive Street; Carol Garcia in the amount of $169 for Olive Street; and Elena Simion in the amount of $52 for Olive Street. All of the purchases are adjacent to each respective bidder's property.
