Correctional Officers Retirement Plan (CORP) Appointments to Local Governing Boards

Background Information

There was a vacancy for an elected member on the CORP Local Board of Directors for Gila County Sheriff's Office Detention Officers and Non-Uniformed Officers. An election was held and on April 7, 2016, the Local Board canvassed the election results and declared them official whereby Violeta Worthey was elected for the term of office 1/1/16 through 12/31/19. Her term began on April 7th, the day the election results were declared official.

There were two vacancies for elected members on the CORP Local Board of Directors for Gila County Sheriff's Office Dispatchers. An election was held and on April 7, 2016, the Local Board canvassed the election results and declared them official whereby Belinda Licano and Yvette Baxley were elected. Ms. Licano will fulfill Lyndi Lopez's unexpired term of office which runs from 1/1/14 through 12/31/17. Earlier, Ms. Lopez resigned from the Board. Yvette Baxley will fill a vacancy for the term of office beginning 1/1/16 through 12/31/19. Both incumbents' terms began on April 7th, the day the election results were declared official.

Evaluation

The Board of Supervisors does not need to take any official action other than to "acknowledge" these 3 newly elected members to the two CORP Local Boards.

Conclusion

By the Board acknowledging these newly elected Board members, there will be an up to date record of the current members who serve on the two Local Boards.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors acknowledge the following elected CORP Local Board members: Violeta Worthy, Belinda Licano and Yvette Baxley.

Suggested Motion

Acknowledgment of Violeta Worthy (term 4/7/16 to 12/31/19), elected member of the Correctional Officers Retirement Plan (CORP) Local Board of Directors for Gila County Sheriff's Office Detention Officers and Non-Uniformed Officers; and Belinda Licano (term 4/7/16 to 12/31/17) and Yvette Baxley (term 4/7/16 to 12/31/19), elected members of the CORP Local Board of Directors for Gila County Sheriff's Office Dispatchers.
