Intergovernmental Agreement No. 031216-Approve sale of modular unit to Gila Community College.
Background Information
Since 2001, the County had been renting property owned by Arizona Public Service Electric Company (APS) for the location of the Gila County Sheriff's Posse Search and Rescue Organization at a rental rate of $1.00 per month.  In September 2005, APS expressed an interest in selling the building to the County.  At the September 20, 2005 Board of Supervisors Regular meeting, the Board directed the Public Works Division Director to proceed with the purchase of the APS property.

The County purchased the triple wide modular building and the land it sits on.  The County continued to lease the back parking lot as an impound lot at a rate of $1.00 per month.
Evaluation
In May 2006, the County purchased the 2,231 square foot, triple wide modular building, VIN numbers AZ86289, AZ86290, and AZ86291, and the property it sits on from APS.  The County used the modular building for the Gila County Sheriff’s task force and the Sheriff’s Posse Search and Rescue Organization.  Since the Gila County Fairgrounds modular building is unoccupied and can be used as an office, the County will add another modular building to use as a classroom for the Gila County Sheriff’s Task Force.
Conclusion
The GCSO no longer has any need for the triple wide modular building purchased from APS.  Gila Community College has expressed a need for the modular building.  Intergovernmental Agreement No. 031216 will provide for Gila County to sell the 2,231 square foot triple wide building, VIN #'s AZ86289, AZ86290, and AZ86291, to the Gila Community College for $1.00, to aid in the economic development of Gila County by assisting in the creation or retention of jobs or by improving or enhancing the economic welfare of the inhabitants of Gila County.
Recommendation
The GCSO recommends selling the modular building to Gila Community College, for $1.00 to assist in the improvement and enhancement of the economic welfare of the inhabitants of Gila County.
Suggested Motion
Information/Discussion/Action to approve the sale of the 2,231 square foot, triple-wide building (VIN numbers AZ86289, AZ86290 and AZ86291) to the Gila Community College for $1.00; thereby, assisting in the economic development of Gila County by improving or enhancing the economic welfare of the inhabitants of Gila County, and to authorize the Chairman's signature on Intergovernmental Agreement No. 031216.  (Jeff Hessenius/Steve Sanders)
