Proclamation No. 2016-01 Proclaiming April 2016 as National County Government Month in Gila County.

Background Information

National County Government Month (NCGM), held each April, is an annual celebration of county government. Since 1991, the National Association of Counties (NACo) has encouraged counties to actively promote county services and programs. NCGM is an excellent opportunity for your county to highlight effective county programs and raise public awareness and understanding about the many services provided to the community.

This year's theme or initiative is "Safe and Secure Counties". NACo is working with county leaders and partners to bolster our nation's ability to thrive amid changing physical, social and economic conditions.

Evaluation

Each year the Board of Supervisors adopts a proclamation proclaiming the month of April as County Government Month and encourages all Gila County Officials, employees, schools and residents to participate in county government celebration activities.

Conclusion

It is appropriate to place this issue before the Board of Supervisors at this time to adopt Proclamation 2016-01 to proclaim April 2016 as National County Government Month in Gila County.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt Proclamation 2016-01 to proclaim April 2016 as National County Government Month in Gila County.

Suggested Motion

Information/Discussion/Action to adopt Proclamation No. 2016-01 proclaiming April 2016 as National County Government Month in Gila County with this year's theme of "Safe and Secure Counties" and to encourage all Gila County officials, employees, schools and residents to participate in county government celebration activities.
