Extended Supported Employment Services Contract

Background Information

Extended Supported Employment Services are provided to assist Gila Employment and Special Training (GEST) clients. Extended Supported Services assist the client in maintaining stable employment in a competitive and integrated setting in various ways. These ways may include requesting time off; developing conflict resolution skills; building and utilizing supports both at work and in the community; providing contacts and possibly job coaching support; and assisting the client in securing new employment or transitioning to employment without supports. The individuals who are to be served are persons with a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major life activities and have a documented diagnosis of such; and individuals who need extended supported employment services to maintain competitive employment in an integrated setting.

Evaluation

The contract between the Arizona Department of Economic Security (ADES) Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) would give GEST clients the opportunity to receive long-term, on-going support services for employment.

Conclusion

The contract would allow the Gila County GEST Program to provide Extended Supported Employment Services to those clients whose ADES RSA authorization indicate a specific need for this service.

Recommendation

The Community Services Division Director recommends the Board of Supervisors' approval and the Chairman's signature on the contract between ADES RSA and Gila County to enable GEST to provide Extended Supported Employment Services to RSA clients.

Suggested Motion

Information/Discussion/Action to approve the contract between the Arizona Department of Economic Security, Rehabilitation Services Administration, and Gila County, Gila Employment and Special Training, to provide Extended Supported Employment Services to Rehabilitation Services Administration clients for a period of five years, from July 1, 2016, through June 30, 2021.
