Public sale for portions of Blake, Coplen and Hobart Streets, Arlington Heights, Official Map 31, Gila County Records, AZ.

Background Information

On December 1, 2015, during a regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors, the Board gave the approval to begin the process for the disposal of an unnecessary public roadway being a portion of Blake, Coplen, and Hobart Streets. Staff began the necessary notifications and public postings of the Board's decision.

Arlington Heights subdivision was recorded in April 1911. Some of the roads in the subdivision have never been constructed due to the topography of the land. Through the years there have been previous abandonments of these roads by past Boards. A portion of Blake and Coplen Streets were abandoned in 1973 through the adoption of Resolution No. 72-2-2. A portion of Hobart Street was abandoned in 1978 through the adoption of Resolution No. 78-6-1.

Ronald Attaway has submitted a bid in the amount of $243 for these portions of Blake, Coplen and Hobart Streets. This bid meets the minimum requirement established by the current Gila County policy on the abandonment of roadways in Gila County.

No other bids have been received; however, bids may be accepted at the public sale.

Evaluation

Abandoning these roads will not deny anyone access to their property.

Conclusion

It is in the best interest of all involved to abandon portions of Blake, Coplen and Hobart Streets.

Recommendation

The Public Works Division Director recommends that Gila County accept the bid from Ronald Attaway.

Suggested Motion

Information/Discussion/Action for the public sale of portions of Blake, Coplen and Hobart Streets, Arlington Heights, an area in Globe as shown on Official Map No. 31, and to accept the bid in the amount of $243 from Ronald Attaway for these portions of Blake, Coplen and Hobart Streets.
