Information
Request/Subject
Approval of Amendments on Various Attorney Contracts for the Superior Court.
Background Information
On June 24, 2014, at the Board of Supervisors' Regular Meeting, the Board approved entering into professional services contracts for various attorneys who are utilized on an annual basis by the Superior Court in Gila County.  All of the contracts were written with specific dollar amounts.  As it is not possible to determine how many cases will be assigned to an attorney during the course of the contract term, the previous dollar amounts were based on history and pending litigations.

Evaluation
Five of the attorneys are nearing the original amount of their contracts, and there remains three months left on their contracts.  In the Superior Court's efforts to ensure that adequate funds are available on the various attorneys' contracts, amendments have been issued to increase the contract amounts for five attorneys.  These amendments will serve to increase the contracts amounts only if needed prior to their contract expiration date of June 30, 2015.
Conclusion
In order to continue the payment procedures of Gila County and to ensure that appropriate funds are available, if needed, to pay attorney invoices, staff feels it would be in the best interest of the County to approve the amendments to increase funds for the remainder of the contracts for five attorneys.
Recommendation
Staff recommends approval of the attached amendments to increase the contract amounts of various attorneys who are utilized by the Superior Court.
Suggested Motion
Approval of five separate Amendments to five separate Professional Services Contracts, which are between Gila County and various attorneys who are utilized by the Superior Court to increase the contract amounts in order to ensure that adequate funds are available through the remainder of the contracts, all of which expire on June 30, 2015.
