Amendment No. 1 to Contract No. 111518 with McSpadden Ford for the Purchase of Three (3) New Ford Expedition SSVs to extend the contract date through October 1, 2019.

Background Information

On February 19, 2019, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract No. 111518 with McSpadden Ford for the purchase of three (3) New Ford Expedition SSVs. Fleet Management would like to extend the contract date through October 1, 2019, to allow for completion of the required upfitting of the vehicles.

The vehicles mentioned in the agenda request will be needed in the fleet in the coming year for the Sheriff’s Office detective use. These vehicles would replace units B-134 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe 4x4 with 219,445 miles, B-119 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe 4x4 with 247,190 miles, and B-136 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe 4x4 with 142,594 miles that is costing a lot of money in repairs and fuel. Vehicles B-134, B-119 and B-136 will be used as a “trade in” to prevent increasing the size of the fleet and will be disposed of at auction.

Evaluation

The original contract term for Contract No. 111518 with McSpadden Ford for the purchase of three (3) New Ford Expedition SSVs was from February 19, 2019, to June 1, 2019. The Public Works Department Director would like to extend the contract end date from June 1, 2019, to October 1, 2019. Amendment No. 1 will serve to extend the term of contract from June 1, 2019, to October 1, 2019, to allow for completion of the required upfitting of the vehicles.

Conclusion

The Amendment needs to be approved by the Board of Supervisors to extend the contract from June 1, 2019, to October 1, 2019, to allow for completion of the required upfitting of the vehicles.

Recommendation

The Public Works Director recommends that the Board of Supervisors approve the Amendment to extend the contract through October 1, 2019 to allow for completion of the required upfitting of the vehicles.

Suggested Motion

Approval of Amendment No. 1 to Contract No. 111518 with McSpadden Ford for the purchase of three (3) new Ford Expedition SSVs to extend the contract to October 1, 2019, to allow for completion of the required upfitting of the vehicles.
