Request/Subject

Gila County Planning and Zoning Commission Appointment.

Background Information

Kurtis Knauss has resigned from the Gila County Planning and Zoning Commission. He represented Supervisorial District Two on the Commission. Supervisor Tim Humphrey has recommended Bill Marshall to fulfill Mr. Knauss's unexpired term of office which ends on December 31, 2018, and Mr. Marshall has expressed a willingness to serve on this Commission.

Evaluation

Supervisor Humphrey asked Mr. Marshall to represent his Supervisorial District on the Planning and Zoning Commission to which Mr. Marshall agreed to serve Mr. Knauss's unexpired term of office that ends on December 31, 2018. Mr. Marshall resides in unincorporated Gila County.

Conclusion

Per statutory requirement, the Board of Supervisors has the authority to appoint members to the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Recommendation

Supervisor Humphrey recommends the appointment of Bill Marshall to the Gila County Planning and Zoning Commission for the term of office that began on January 1, 2015, through December 31, 2018. His term would begin on the date he is appointed by the Board of Supervisors.

Suggested Motion

Acknowledgment of Kurtis Knauss's resignation from the Gila County Planning and Zoning Commission and approval to appoint Bill Marshall to fulfill Mr. Knauss's unexpired term of office from April 4, 2017, through December 31, 2018.
