Proclamation No. 2017-02 Proclaiming April 2017 as National County Government Month in Gila County.

Background Information

National County Government Month (NCGM), held each April, is an annual celebration of county government. Since 1991, the National Association of Counties (NACo) has encouraged counties to actively promote county services and programs. NCGM is an excellent opportunity for the County to highlight effective County programs and raise awareness and understanding about the many services provided to the community.

This year's theme is "Brilliant Ideas at Work." NACo is working with county leaders and partners to bolster our nation's ability to thrive amid changing physical, social and economic conditions.

Evaluation

Each year the Board of Supervisors adopts a proclamation proclaiming the month of April as County Government Month and encourages all Gila County Officials, employees, schools and residents to participate in county government celebration activities.

Conclusion

It is appropriate to place this issue before the Board of Supervisors at this time to adopt Proclamation 2017-02 to proclaim April 2017 as National County Government Month in Gila County.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt Proclamation 2017-02 to proclaim April 2017 as National County Government Month in Gila County.

Suggested Motion

Information/Discussion/Action to adopt Proclamation No. 2017-02 proclaiming April 2017 as National County Government Month in Gila County with this year's theme of "Brilliant Ideas At Work" and to encourage all Gila County officials, employees, schools and residents to participate in county government celebration activities.
