Gila County Planning and Zoning Commission Reappointments

Background Information

The terms of office on the Planning and Zoning Commission expired on December 31, 2021 for the following members: Mary Lou Myers, Jim Muhr, Lori Brown, and Pamela Griffin.

Evaluation

Ms. Myers and Mr. Muhr represent Supervisor Christensen's district on the Commission; Ms. Brown represents Supervisor Humphrey's district; and Ms. Griffin represents Supervisor Cline's district. Scott Buzan, Community Development Department Director, has contacted each of the subject Commission members and each member has offered to serve another term of office on the Commission. Mr. Buzan has also contacted each Supervisor and they would like the incumbent members to continue serving and representing their respective districts on the Commission.

Conclusion

Arizona Revised Statute § 11-802 states, "...Three members shall be appointed from each supervisorial district by the supervisor from that district, and not more than 1 of the 3 may be a resident of an incorporated municipality." The Board of Supervisors needs to vote to reappoint Ms. Myers, Mr. Muhr, Ms. Brown, and Ms. Griffin for a four-year term of office on the Commission which began on January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2024.

Recommendation

Each Supervisor has been contacted by Mr. Buzan regarding the reappointment of members on the Planning and Zoning Commission to represent their supervisorial district on the Commission and each have chosen to have the incumbents continue serving for another four years.

Suggested Motion

Approval to reappoint the following members to the Gila County Planning and Zoning Commission for four years beginning January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2024: Mary Lou Myers, Jim Muhr, Lori Brown, and Pamela Griffin.
