Resolution No. 19-02-01 Declaration of Emergency- February 2019 Snow Storms

Background Information

Snow storms began in Gila County on February 20, 2019, which have created an emergency situation where many citizens have been stranded in their homes denying them access to food and medical assistance. The snow storms are endangering citizens' lives and well-being, and they have the potential to damage homes and property.

Evaluation

A.R.S. §26-311 outlines the requirements for the Board of Supervisors to declare an emergency.

Conclusion

Resolution No. 19-02-01 will prepare Gila County for recovery efforts from the recent snow storms and provide the legal avenue to request additional resources if needed.

Recommendation

It is the recommendation of the Gila County Health and Emergency Management Department Director that the Board of Supervisors adopt Resolution No. 19-02-01.
