Request/Subject

Accept a bid in the amount of $76.00 from Doreen R. and Joshua R. Badilla for a portion of South Main Street and adopt Resolution No. 14-02-01 authorizing the disposal of an unnecessary public roadway and authorizing the Chairman to sign a quit claim deed to deed a portion of South Main Street to Doreen R. and Joshua R. Badilla.

Background Information

During the regular scheduled meeting of the Gila County Board of Supervisors on December 17, 2013, the Board received and accepted a bid in the amount of $76.00 from Doreen R. and Joshua R. Badilla for the purchase of a portion of South Main Street, adjacent to their property. The Badillas had also submitted a bid for the remainder of the roadway adjacent to their property. The additional bid was accidentally left out of the package submitted to the Board for the Dec. 17th meeting at which time the Board accepted bids that had been received for a portion of S. Main Street.

Evaluation

The bid meets the requirements of the current Gila County policy on abandonments of roadways in Gila County.

Conclusion

The next and final step in this process is for the Board of Supervisors to accept this bid and adopt a resolution which authorizes the disposal of a portion of South Main Street, and authorize the Chairman's signature on the quit claim deed to deed the abandoned roadway to Doreen R. and Joshua R. Badilla.

Recommendation

It is the recommendation of the Deputy Director of Public Works that the Board of Supervisors adopt Resolution No. 14-02-01 and authorize the Chairman's signature on the quit claim deed.

Suggested Motion

Approval to accept a bid in the amount of $76.00 from Doreen R. and Joshua R. Badilla for a portion of South Main Street; adopt Resolution 14-02-01 authorizing the disposal of an unnecessary public roadway being a portion of Main Street, adjacent to Lot 14, Block 14, Central Heights Townsite, Official Map No. 52, Gila County Records; and authorize the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors to execute and deliver in the name and under the seal of the County of Gila, a quit claim deed conveying the abandoned roadway to Doreen R. and Joshua R. Badilla.
