Background Information
On February 21, 2013, the Gila County Sheriff's Office electronically submitted a grant application in the amount of $35,295 to the Arizona Department of Homeland Security (AZDOHS) for the project titled "Critical Incident Responder Safety and Health." On March 19, 2013, the Board of Supervisors ratified the approval of the grant application in the amount of $35,295 for the project titled "Critical Incident Responder Safety and Health." The grant funds will be used for SCUBA equipment for the Sheriff's Office Dive Team.
Evaluation
The Gila County Sheriff's Office has received written notification on December 27, 2013, from the State of Arizona Department of Homeland Security that the application submitted on February 26, 2013, by the Sheriff's Office has been partially awarded. The project titled "Critical Incident Responder Safety and Health" has been partially funded under the Homeland Security Grant Program in the amount of $23,530. The performance period is January 1, 2014, through July 31, 2014.
Conclusion
The Gila County Sheriff's Office has been awarded $23,530 from the State of Arizona Department of Homeland Security for the Critical Incident Responder Safety and Health Project to purchase SCUBA equipment for the Sheriff's Office Dive Team.
Recommendation
It is the recommendation of Sheriff J. Adam Shepherd that the Board of Supervisors accept Sub Grantee Agreement-Reallocation No. 11-AZDOHS-HSGP-888303-02 between Arizona Department of Homeland Security and the Gila County Sheriff's Office in the amount of $23,530 for the Critical Incident Responder Safety and Health Project for a performance period of January 1, 2014, through July 31, 2014.
