Request/Subject

An amendment to the Gila County Community Action Program (CAP) Advisory Board By-Laws.

Background Information

The Gila County Board of Supervisors established the Gila County CAP Advisory Board on January 20, 1998, and thereafter By-Laws for this Board was developed and implemented. The CAP Advisory Board underwent a complete review of its By-Laws in 2016-2017, and the Amended By-Laws were presented and approved by the Board of Supervisors on July 18, 2017.

The Federal Office of Community Services (OCS) notified the CAP Advisory Board that its By-Laws didn't fully meet the requirements of the OCS's Organization Standards with regard to new member orientation; therefore, an amendment to the By-Laws was added to outline the procedures for new member orientation. The language was added to Article III-Advisory Board, Section 1 (G) of the By-Laws and approved by the Board of Supervisors on September 11, 2018.

Evaluation

This proposed amendment revises language in Article VI-Meetings, Section 1 (A) of the By-Laws. It addresses annual meetings of the CAP Advisory Board.

Conclusion

The CAP Advisory Board has reviewed and approved the proposed changes to Article VI-Meetings, Section 1 (A). The Board of Supervisors needs to review and approved the proposed changes.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors approve the amended By-Laws.
