Appointment of Republican Party Precinct Committeemen in Gila County.

Background Information

Arizona Revised Statute sect. 16-821 (B) states, " The board of supervisors upon the recommendation of the county chairman, or the recommendation of a committee designated in the bylaws of the county committee for that purpose, shall determine when a vacancy exists in the office of precinct committeeman. If a vacancy exists, the vacancy shall be filled by the board of supervisors from a list of names submitted by the county chairman of the appropriate political party. Only a precinct committeeman elected at the primary election prior to the date of a state or county committee organizing meeting shall be permitted to vote at such meeting. The criteria used to establish when a vacancy exists in the office of precinct committeeman shall be as established in section 38-291."

Parks for appointment to the office of precinct committeeman in the Star Valley precinct; Joseph Rizzo for appointment to the office of precinct committeeman in the Star Valley precinct; Rosie Gruetzemacher for appointment to the office of precinct committeeman in the Tonto Basin precinct. Per statute, the Board of Supervisors has the authority to make this appointment. Upon review of the precinct committeemen allotment table, it has been determined that vacancies exist for the Republican Party.

Upon review of the precinct committeemen allotment table, it has been determined that the vacancies exist for the Republican Party.

Recommendation

The Elections Director submits that the Board of Supervisors approve the requested appointments as stated above.

Parks-Star Valley Precinct; Joseph Rizzo-Star Valley Precinct; and Rosie Gruetzemacher-Tonto Basin Precinct.
