Request to Advertise Invitation for Bids No. 111518-2-Purchase of One (1) New Ford F150 Crew Cab 4x4 for Sheriff's Office Task Force.

Background Information

The advertisement of Invitation for Bids No. 111518-2 for the purchase of one (1) new Ford F150 full size, 1/2 ton, 4x4, crew cab pickup would allow the County Fleet Department the ability to receive proposals from automobile suppliers and have the option to purchase one (1) new unit by April 1, 2019.

Evaluation

The vehicle mentioned in the Invitation for Bids will be needed in the fleet in the coming year for the Sheriff’s Office Task Force use. This vehicle would replace unit B-170, a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe 4x4 with more than 150,000 miles and a bad transmission that is costing a lot of money in repairs and fuel. Vehicle B-170 will be used as a “trade-in” to prevent increasing the size of the fleet and will be disposed at auction.

Conclusion

The vehicle that will be purchased from this Invitation for Bids would be assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Task Force.

Recommendation

The Public Works Division Director recommends that the Board of Supervisors approve the advertisement of Invitation for Bids No. 111518-2 for the purchase of one (1) new Ford F150 full size, 1/2 ton, 4x4, crew cab pickup with installed insert and security equipment, as specified.
