Gila County Industrial Development Authority Board of Directors-Reappointments

Background Information

The Industrial Development Authority of the County of Gila, Arizona (IDA), is comprised of 9 members. Each Supervisor recommends to the Board of Supervisors the names of three members who they would like to represent their specific Supervisorial District on the IDA Board, and the Board of Supervisors then votes on the appointment(s). The terms of office for IDA members is six years.

Stanley Gibson represents Supervisorial District Two, and his term of office ended on January 19, 2016; however, he has continued to serve on that Board. Due to an oversight, notification was not provided to the Board of Supervisors that Mr. Gibson agreed to serve another term of office.

On April 7, 2015, the Board of Supervisors appointed Trena Grantham to the IDA Board of Directors representing Supervisorial District Three to fill Gerry Kohlbeck's unexpired term of office through December 31, 2016.

Evaluation

Mr. Gibson and Ms. Grantham have expressed a desire to continue serving on the IDA Board of Directors for another six-year term of office.

Conclusion

Supervisor Pastor recommends Mr. Gibson's reappointment to the IDA Board of Directors retroactive to January 20, 2016, through December 31, 2021. A one-time adjustment is being made to Mr. Gibson's term of office so that his term will always end on December 31st.

Supervisor Marcanti recommends Ms. Grantham's reappointment to the IDA Board of Directors for the term beginning January 1, 2017, through December 31, 2022.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors reappoint Mr. Gibson and Ms. Grantham to the IDA Board of Directors.

Suggested Motion

Approval to reappoint Stanley Gibson to the Gila County Industrial Development Authority Board of Directors for another six-year term retroactive from January 20, 2016 to December 31, 2021 (with a one-time adjustment to the term of office); and, approval to reappoint Trena Grantham to said Board for the term beginning January 1, 2017, through December 31, 2022.
