Approval of Professional Service Agreement No. 101415 with Jean Turney-Shaw, FNP. (Family Nurse Practitioner)

Background Information

The Gila County Sheriff's Office (GCSO) is required by law to provide medical services to detainees in the Gila County Sheriff's Office Jail Facility and Juvenile Detention Facility. GCSO, through various recruiting campaigns and salary issues, has been unable to fill the vacant registered nurse position in Detention Health Services.

Evaluation

GCSO has vacant positions in Detention Health Services and has been unable to fill them with qualified applicants. Executing Professional Service Agreement No. 101415 with Jean Turney-Shaw, FNP, will enable critical medical services to be provided to detainees in the Gila County Sheriff's Office Jail Facility and Juvenile Detention Facility when staffing issues arise.

Conclusion

GCSO would like to contract with Jean Turney-Shaw, FNP, to provide medical services on an "as needed" basis at the Gila County Sheriff's Office Jail Facility and Juvenile Detention Facility. Ms. Shaw has agreed to enter into Professional Service Agreement No. 101415 - Medical Consulting and Related Services for the Gila County Sheriff's Office Jail Facility and Juvenile Detention Facility, for an hourly rate of $50.00, with a not to exceed amount of $63,000 during the term of the contract.

Recommendation

It is the recommendation of Sheriff J. Adam Shepherd to approve Professional Service Agreement No. 101415 with Jean Turney-Shaw, FNP, to provide medical consulting and related services for the Gila County Sheriff's Office Jail Facility and Juvenile Detention Facility, on an "as needed" basis.

Suggested Motion

Information/Discussion/Action to approve Professional Service Agreement No. 101415 with Jean Turney-Shaw, FNP to provide medical services on an "as needed" basis to the Gila County Sheriff's Office Jail Facility and Juvenile Detention Facility for a period of November 1, 2015, through October 31, 2016, with the option to renew the contract term for two one-year periods, at an hourly rate of $50.00, with a not to exceed amount of $63,000 for the term of the contract.
