Request/Subject

Executive Session for consideration to renew James Menlove's employment contract as the Gila County Manager.

Background Information

The employment contract for County Manager James Menlove expires on June 30, 2020. Mr. Menlove has requested to meet with the Board in executive session to discuss the renewal of his contract.

Paragraph 7 of the contract states, "...In the event the Board elects not to renew or extend Menlove's appointment beyond the term set forth in Paragraph 2, County shall provide Menlove six (6) calendar months' notice of its intention not to renew or extend, or no later than December 31, 2019..."

Evaluation

Mr. Menlove would like to meet with the Board of Supervisors at this time to allow the Board ample time to consider to renew or not renew his employment contract.

Conclusion

It would be prudent for the Board to meet with Mr. Menlove to review his accomplishments as Gila County Manager, and come to a mutual agreement regarding his continued employment with Gila County.

Recommendation

To go to Executive Session to consider the renewal of Mr. Menlove's employment contract as the Gila County Manager.

Information/Discussion/Action to vote to go into executive session pursuant to A.R.S. 38-431.03 (A) (1) for discussion or consideration of a renewal of James Menlove's employment contract as the Gila County Manager. (James Menlove)
