Gila County Planning and Zoning Commission Appointments.

Background Information

Randy Slapnicka, Mickie Nye and Travis Holder serve on the Gila County Planning and Zoning Commission (Commission). Their terms of office expire on December 31, 2018. Mr. Slapnicka represents Supervisor Martin's district, and Mr. Nye and Mr. Holder represent Supervisor Cline's district. There is also one vacancy in Supervisor Martin's district and one vacancy in Supervisor Cline's district.

Evaluation

Supervisor Martin has asked Mr. Slapnicka to continue serving on the Commission, to which he agreed. She also asked Jim Muhr to fill a vacancy on the Commission for the term of office that ends on December 31, 2020, and he has agreed. Mr. Muhr will also represent Supervisor Martin's district.

Supervisor Cline has asked Mr. Nye and Mr. Holder to continue serving on the Commission, to which they agreed. He also asked Pamela Griffin to fill a vacancy on the Commission for the term of office that ends on December 31, 2020, and she has agreed. Mrs. Griffin will also represent Supervisor Cline's district.

Conclusion

Per statutory requirement, the Board of Supervisors has the authority to appoint members to the Planning and Zoning Commission. The Board of Supervisors needs to decide to reappoint Randy Slapnicka, Mickie Nye and Travis Holder to the Planning and Zoning Commission for another 4-year term which ends on December 31, 2022; and appoint Jim Muhr and Pamela Griffin to the Planning and Zoning Commission for a term that ends on December 31, 2020.

Recommendation

Supervisor Tommie Martin is requesting the reappointment of Randy Slapnicka for the term beginning on January 1, 2019, through December 31, 2022, and she is requesting the appointment of Jim Muhr to fill a vacancy on the Commission for the term which ends on December 31, 2020.

Supervisor Woody Cline is requesting the reappointment of Mickie Nye and Travis Holder for the term beginning on January 1, 2019, through December 31, 2022, and he is requesting the appointment of Pamela Griffin to fill a vacancy on the Commission for the term which ends on December 31, 2020.

Suggested Motion

Approval to reappoint Randy Slapnicka, Mickie Nye and Travis Holder to the Gila County Planning and Zoning Commission (Commission) for the term beginning January 1, 2019, through December 31, 2022; and appoint Jim Muhr and Pamela Griffin to the Commission for the term ending on December 31, 2020.
