Sale of State-Owned Parcel No. 205-22-010 to the City of Globe.

Background Information

Assessor's parcel number 205-22-010 was deeded to the State of Arizona by the County Treasurer earlier this year because the previous owner did not pay the property taxes for seven consecutive years. This parcel is part of the road on the curve of E. Cactus Drive to E. Yucca Drive, Globe, and it encompasses part of a hillside.

Evaluation

A.R.S. § 42-18303 (E) states, "The board of supervisors may accept an offer from, and sell real property held by this state by tax deed to, the county or a city, town or special taxing district in the county for a public purchase related to transportation or flood control. The board of supervisors shall convey the deed and apportion the monies received in the transaction prescribed by this action."

It is the intent of the City of Globe to purchase this parcel for a public purpose related to transportation.

Conclusion

If the Board of Supervisors approves the sale of this property to the City of Globe, the property will go back on the County's tax rolls.

Recommendation

The total lien amount on this property is $1,016.07. It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors sell the subject property to the City of Globe for $1. The City is also required to pay the cost of $30 to record the Quit Claim Deed.

Information/Discussion/Action to approve the sale of Assessor's tax parcel number 205-22-010 to the City of Globe for $1 to be used for a public purpose related to transportation pursuant to A.R.S. § 42-18303; and authorize the Chairman's signature on the related Quit Claim Deed. (Marian Sheppard)
