Request for Proposals No. 093019 for Master Broadband Consulting Services.

It is the intent of this solicitation to secure a consultant who has demonstrated ability to provide a broadband plan for commercial and residential services and has experience implementing this plan for a city or county. The funding for this project shall not exceed $12,000.

Background Information

Affordable and reliable broadband service for commercial and residential customers in Gila County is currently not available. The County is seeking a consultant who can develop a county-wide broadband master plan, prepare a scope of work, and a request for proposal for an implementation.

Evaluation

The need exists to develop an affordable strategic broadband plan and prepare the roadmap for implementation. The Board of Supervisors needs to authorize the advertisement of Request for Proposals No. 093010 to hire a consultant who can develop a county-wide master plan, prepare a scope of work, and a request for proposal for implementation.

Conclusion

In order to support economic growth in Gila County, an affordable strategic broadband plan must be developed. The plan should identify the actions necessary to develop and implement universally available broadband. The County does not have the expertise required to accomplish this project and is seeking a consultant who has a proven track record in such endeavors.

Recommendation

Staff recommends that the Board approve the advertisement of Request for Proposals No. 093019 for this consultant service with a not to exceed project funding of $12,000.
