Sale of State-Owned Parcel No. 304-04-222E to the Town of Payson.

Background Information

Assessor's parcel number 304-04-222E was deeded to the State of Arizona by the County Treasurer earlier this year because the previous owner did not pay the property taxes for seven consecutive years. This parcel comprises approximately 17 feet of sidewalk on S. Mud Springs Road up to the intersection of S. Mud Springs Road and E. Miller Road in Payson, Arizona.

Evaluation

A.R.S. § 42-18303 (E) states, "The board of supervisors may accept an offer from, and sell real property held by this state by tax deed to, the county or a city, town or special taxing district in the county for a public purchase related to transportation or flood control. The board of supervisors shall convey the deed and apportion the monies received in the transaction prescribed by this action."

It is the intent of the Town of Payson to purchase this parcel for a public purpose related to transportation.

Conclusion

If the Board of Supervisors approves the sale of this property to the Town of Payson, the property will go back on the County's tax rolls.

Recommendation

The total lien amount on this property is $681.11. It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors sell the subject property to the Town of Payson for $1. The Town is also required to pay the cost of $30 to record the Quit Claim Deed.

Suggested Motion

Information/Discussion/Action to approve the sale of Assessor's tax parcel number 304-04-222E to the Town of Payson for $1 to be used for a public purpose related to transportation pursuant to A.R.S. § 42-18303; and authorize the Chairman's signature on the related Quit Claim Deed.
