Presentation of information on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Resolution Copper Project and Land Exchange.

Background Information

Bryan Seppala, Copper Community and Social Performance Analyst, with Resolution Copper submitted a request to talk about the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Resolution Copper Project and Land Exchange with the Board of Supervisors and opportunities for the County to participate in the process.

Evaluation

On August 13, 2019, the USDA Forest Service announced that the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Resolution Copper Project and Land Exchange, along with supporting documents, are available for public review and are accessible online.

The Tonto National Forest invites the public to comment over a 90-day period - August 10 through November 7, 2019. It is important for the Board to learn of opportunities for the County to participate in the review process.

Mr. Seppala will not be able to attend this meeting; however, Vicky Peacey, Manager of Permitting and Approvals, will be presenting information on the Draft EIS and she will talk about the opportunities for the County to participate in the process.

Conclusion

It would be beneficial for the Board of Supervisors and the public to receive updated information on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Resolution Copper Project and Land Exchange.
