Contract Award in Response to Invitation for Bids (IFB) No. 080118-Two (2) New Belly Dump Trailers

Background Information

Trailer number C-48T was purchased in 1998, and trailer number C-60T was purchased in 2002. Both trailers are badly worn, cannot be repaired and they are unsafe. It is staff’s opinion that the trailers should be sold at an auction. The Consolidated Roads Department requests that the Board authorize these trailers to be sold at auction as County surplus. Replacements have been budgeted.

Evaluation

On August 20, 2018, the Public Works Division received approval from the Board of Supervisors to advertise IFB 080118. The advertisement was published in the August 28th and September 4th editions of the newspaper with a statement that the bids were due on September 12, 2018. Two bids were received by the due date.

Conclusion

The Public Works Consolidated Roads Department is asking the Board to award a contract in response to IFB 080118 for the purchase of two belly dump trailers. Public Works will dispose of trailers C-48T and C-60T by auction.

The Public Works Division Director recommends that the Board of Supervisors award a contract to Midco Sales. LLC in the amount of $67,472.52 for the purchase of two (2) new belly dump trailers as specified in IFB No. 080118.

Recommendation

The Public Works Director recommends that the Board of Supervisors award a contract to Midco Sales LLC in the amount of $67,472.52 for two (2) belly new dump trailers as specified in Invitation for Bids No. 080118.

Suggested Motion

Information/Discussion/Action to review all bids submitted for Invitation for Bids No.080118 for the purchase of two (2) new belly dump trailers to replace trailer numbers C-48T and C-60T; award to the lowest, responsible and qualified bidder; and authorize the Chairman's signature on the award contract.
