Beaver Valley Domestic Water Improvement District Board Member Appointment.

Background Information

Arizona Revised Statute §48-1012 (C) states, "If a vacancy in the district board occurs due to death or disability or any other cause other than resignation, the board of directors of the district shall appoint a qualified elector of the district to fill the office for the remaining portion of that term. If there is a vacancy in the district board due to resignation, the district board shall accept the resignation and appoint a qualified elector to fill the remaining portion of that term of office..." In this case the position was vacant.

Evaluation

The Beaver Valley Domestic Water Improvement District governing board appointed Randy Johnson to fill a vacancy on the board. There has been a vacancy since December 31, 2014.

Conclusion

Randy Johnson has agreed to fill the vacant term of office, which ended on December 31, 2014, due to no one seeking the position.

On August 27, 2016, the Beaver Valley Domestic Water Improvement District Board of Directors appointed Randy Johnson to the governing board for the 4-year term of office which began on January 1, 2015, through December 31, 2018. The incumbent's term of office became effective the date he was appointed by the governing board (August 27, 2016) through December 31, 2018.

Recommendation

The Elections Department recommends that the Board of Supervisors acknowledge the appointment of Randy Johnson as a new governing board member of the Beaver Valley Domestic Water Improvement District Board of Directors.

Suggested Motion

Acknowledgment of the appointment of Randy Johnson to the Beaver Valley Domestic Water Improvement District governing board effective August 27, 2016, through December 31, 2018.
