Governor's Office of Highway Safety FY2015 Speed Enforcement Contract No 2015-PT-054.
Background Information
On February 28, 2014, the Gila County Sheriff's Office electronically submitted the FY2015 Speed Enforcement Grant Application. On May 6, 2014, the Board of Supervisors ratified the Sheriff's Office electronic submission of the grant application to the Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) in the amount of $21,899.26 to purchase (10) Golden Eagle II radars for DUI enforcement.
Evaluation
The Gila County Sheriff's Office was awarded GOHS Contract No. 2015-PT-054  in the amount of $21,899 to be used to purchase ten (10) radar units to enhance Selective Traffic Enforcement (STEP) throughout Gila County.
Conclusion
The Gila County Sheriff's Office has been awarded a grant from the GOHS in the amount of $21,899 that will be used to purchase ten (10) radar units, however, GOHS Contract No. 2015-PT-054 must first be signed by the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors.
Recommendation
Gila County Sheriff J. Adam Shepherd recommends that the Board of Supervisor's accept the Governor's Office of Highway Safety FY2015 Speed Enforcement Contract No. 2015-PT-054 in the amount of $21,899 for the purchase of ten (10) radar units of which said funds must be spent by September 30, 2015.
Suggested Motion
Authorization of the Chairman's signature on Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) Contract No. 2015-PT-054 to accept GOHS grant funds in the amount of $21,899 which will be used by the Sheriff's Office to purchase ten Golden Eagle II radars for speed related enforcement activities.
