Information
Request/Subject
Gila County Public Works Engineering Department has received a petition and request from John Cottrill to vacate a portion of Evalinda Drive.
Background Information
Evalinda Drive is a road dedicated to the public as shown on the King Addition Subdivision. The subdivision was created in 1958 and recorded as Official Map No. 196. The King Addition Subdivision is a subdivision of Lots 155 and 156 inside of the East Verde Park Subdivision which is north of Payson on the East Verde River. The portion of the road being petitioned for abandonment serves parcels 302-31-124A and 302-31-124B. Both parcels are owned by the petitioner.
Evaluation
Jerry Farr from the Gila County Engineering Department conducted a field visit to the area and reviewed the proposed road abandonment and determined that if the area requested for abandonment is vacated it will not impact or deny anyone access. The road ends at the Cottrill property where it runs into a hillside. Beyond the Cottrill property is Tonto National Forest Land and no roads exist in this area.
Conclusion
It is in the best interest of the County for the Board to authorize the Engineering Department to begin the process to dispose of this unnecessary public roadway.
Recommendation
The recommendation from the Engineering Department is to move forward with the vacation.
Suggested Motion
Information/Discussion/Action for approval to begin the processs to dispose of an unnecessary public roadway shown as a portion of Evalinda Drive in the King Addition Subdivision. (Steve Sanders)
