Election of a Vice-Chairman of the Board of Supervisors

Background Information

On January 5, 2021, the Board of Supervisors elected Tim R. Humphrey, District 2 Supervisor, as its Chairman. The Board decided to not elect a Vice-Chairman until a new Board member had been appointed by the Board to fill the vacancy of the Honorable Tommie Cline Martin who passed away on December 10, 2020. Years ago, the Board members decided to rotate the chairmanship and vice-chairmanship every 16 months to have equal turns during a 4-year term of office.

At the Board's January 12, 2021 Special Meeting, the Board members and the Clerk of the Board unanimously voted to appoint Mr. Steve Christensen as the District 1 Supervisor on the Gila County Board of Supervisors.

Evaluation

Now that Steve Christensen has been appointed to the Board of Supervisors representing Supervisorial District 1, it is time to elect a Vice-Chairman for the term that ends on April 30, 2022.

Conclusion

It is appropriate for the Board of Supervisors to elect a Vice-Chairman for a 16-month term which ends on April 30, 2022.
