District 1 Supervisor Appointment

Background Information

On December 10, 2020, the Honorable Tommie Cline Martin, District 1 Supervisor, passed away. Since that time the Board members and the Clerk of the Board have been considering individuals to fill the vacancy. There have been several executive sessions regarding this issue.

Evaluation

The Board members and the Clerk of the Board are ready to appoint a Supervisor to represent District 1.

Conclusion

Per Arizona Revised Statutes, the members of the Board of Supervisors and the Clerk of the Board shall fill the vacancy for the office of Supervisor for District 1. There is a vacancy in Supervisorial District 1.

Suggested Motion

Information/Discussion/Action to vote to go into executive session pursuant to A.R.S. § 38-431.03 (A) (1) and (3) to engage in discussion or consultation for legal advice with the attorney or attorneys of the Board of Supervisors and to consider those individuals who may best fill the vacancy created by the passing of the Honorable Tommie Cline Martin, District 1 Supervisor, and when reconvened into the Regular Meeting, appoint a new District 1 Supervisor.
