Vote to go into Executive Session pursuant to A.R.S. § 38-431.03 (A) (1) and (3) to consider individuals who would best fill the vacancy of the Honorable Tommie Cline Martin, Gila County District 1 Supervisor, including those who have expressed an interest in filling the vacancy, and for discussion or consultation for legal advice with the attorney or attorneys of the public body.

Background Information

The Board of Supervisors is deeply saddened by the passing of the Honorable Tommie Cline Martin, Gila County District 1 Supervisor, on December 10, 2020. Supervisor Martin was elected to the Board of Supervisors in 2004 and she was recently re-elected to serve another 4-year term of office beginning January 1, 2021.

The Board of Supervisors convened into an executive session on January 5, 2021 pursuant to A.R.S. § 38-431.03 (A) (1) and (3) to consider individuals who would best fill the vacancy, including those who have expressed an interest in filling the vacancy, and for discussion or consultation for legal advice with the attorney or attorneys of the Board.

Evaluation

Another Executive Session is needed to consider individuals who would best fill the District 1 Supervisor vacancy, including those who have expressed an interest in filling the vacancy. The Board would benefit from discussion or consultation with its attorney or attorneys.

Conclusion

The Board of Supervisors needs to consider individuals who would best fill the vacancy created by the passing of the Honorable Tommie Cline Martin, District 1 Supervisor, including those who have expressed an interest in filling the vacancy. The Board would benefit from discussion or consultation with its attorney or attorneys.
