Amendment No. 1 to Contract No. 041419-Payson Complex Multipurpose Building and Site Improvements Project with Architekton, Inc.
Background Information
On December 3, 2019, the Board of Supervisors awarded Contract No. 041420 (AIA Document B133™-2014) - Payson Complex Multipurpose Building and Site Improvements Project to Architekton, Inc.

This project aligns with Goal #2-Responsible Resource Management of Gila County's Strategic Plan:  Improve and maintain facilities, network/technology, infrastructure, and natural resources to ensure employee/public safety, continuity in business operations, and enjoyment of life.
Evaluation
As part of the design review process on initial 100% plans, Gila County Facilities Management, Gila County Development Services, Town of Payson Fire, and the Town of Payson Developments Services were involved in discussions to maximize the site and building development, as well as bring the design into full compliance with all ordinances. Included in this change order are:
• Revision of the Frontier Street ROW improvements on the south side of Frontier Street east and west of Colcord.
• Revise the south Frontier Street ROW design including a right turn only “lamb chop” and ADA access at the sidewalk.
• Provide ADA sidewalk and curb cuts and driveway improvements at the existing driveway off the Beeline Highway.
• Provide ADA sidewalk and curb cuts and driveway improvements at the existing driveway off the Beeline Highway.
• Revise the area to be repaved on the east-west driveway south of the new building site (Beeline to Colcord).
• Provide Fiber Optic conduit from the new IT Room on the new building to two connection points on the east building site.  (Does not include conduit design under Colcord).
• Revise the ROW improvements along both sides of Colcord.
• Revise the design of the parking lot and other site improvements on the west of Colcord property.
• Civil engineering coordination with the County/Town stormwater management project being designed by others (Kimley Horn).

Architekton, Inc. will be required to complete the tasks outlined in this change order. The total cost of Change Order #1 is $34,350. Architekton, Inc. has the expertise to coordinate the building and site design. The County has used Architekton, Inc. throughout the process of designing the site and building. Architekton, Inc. has the experience, staff, and expertise to design these site and building improvements.
Conclusion
The Facilities Management Department Director wishes to execute Amendment No. 1 to Contract No. 041420-Payson Complex Multipurpose Building and Site Improvements Project to increase the contract by $34,350 for a new total contract amount not to exceed $456,000 for the contract term, December 3, 2019, to December 31, 2021, due to additional site improvements.
Recommendation
The Facilities Management Department Director recommends approving Amendment No. 1 to Contract No. 041420-Payson Complex Multipurpose Building and Site Improvements Project to increase the contract by $34,350 for a new total contract amount not to exceed $456,000 for the contract term of December 3, 2019, to December 31, 2021, due to additional site improvements.
