Information
Request/Subject
Adopt Resolution No. 20-01-01 accepting a quit claim deed, recorded in Fee No. 2019-012228 Gila County Records, for a portion of Hicks Drive in Wheatfields as shown on Record of Survey No. 4581A-C, Gila County Records.
Background Information
Hicks Drive is approximately 5.5 miles in length beginning at the intersection of Wheatfields Road and ending at the Pringle Pump Station. The road provides access to numerous private properties, ranches, and the Tonto National Forest. Gila County currently maintains the road through deeds, easements, and agreements. One of the property owners wishes to quit claim the roadway through their property to Gila County via a quit claim deed.
Evaluation
The Gila County Engineering Department has worked with the owner's engineer on the quit claim deed and legal description for the roadway.
Conclusion
Acceptance of the quit claim deed will provide clear ownership of this portion of Hicks Drive as a County roadway. It is in the best interest of the County to hold ownership of this existing road, of which, Gila County currently maintains.
Recommendation
It is the recommendation of the Director of Public Works and the County Engineer that the Board of Supervisors adopt Resolution No. 20-01-01.
Suggested Motion
Information/Discussion/Action to adopt Resolution No. 20-01-01 accepting the portion of Hicks Drive as described in Fee No. 2019-012228, into the Gila County Maintained Roadway System. (Steve Sanders)
