Appointment of Precinct Committeemen to the Gila County Democratic Party.

Background Information

Arizona Revised Statute §16-821 (B) states, "The board of supervisors upon the recommendation of the county chairman, or the recommendation of a committee designated in the bylaws of the county committee for that purpose, shall determine when a vacancy exists in the office of precinct committeeman. If a vacancy exists, the vacancy shall be filled by the board of supervisors from a list of names submitted by the county chairman of the appropriate political party. Only a precinct committeeman elected at the primary election prior to the date of a state or county committee organizing meeting shall be permitted to vote at such meeting. The criteria used to establish when a vacancy exists in the office of precinct committeeman shall be as established in section 38-291."

Evaluation

The Gila County Democratic Committee Chairman, Lynnette Brouwer, has submitted Ashley Lorraine Dixon for appointment to the office of precinct committeeman in the Globe #1 precinct; Jeanne Kathleen Polenz for appointment to the office of precinct committeeman in the Globe #4 precinct; Theresa Whitfill McCarville for appointment to the office of precinct committeeman in the Tonto Basin precinct; Frank Drinker Whiteside for appointment to the office of precinct committeeman in the Tonto Basin precinct; Suzanne Joan Covert for appointment to the office of precinct committeeman in the Payson #2 precinct; Ruby Diane Green for appointment to the office of precinct committeeman in the Payson #3 precinct; Lynnette Brouwer for appointment to the office of precinct committeeman in the Payson #6 precinct; and Judith Rae Tolle for appointment to the office of precinct committeeman in the Zane Grey precinct. Per statute, the Board of Supervisors has the authority to make this appointment. Upon review of the precinct committeemen allotment table it has been determined that vacancies exist for the Democratic party.

Conclusion

The Gila County Democratic Committee Chairman, Lyneete Brouwer, has submitted Ashley Lorraine Dixon for appointment to the office of precinct committeeman in the Globe #1 precinct; Jeanne Kathleen Polenz for appointment to the office of precinct committeeman in the Globe #4 precinct; Theresa Whitfill McCarville for appointment to the office of precinct committeeman in the Tonto Basin precinct; Frank Drinker Whiteside for appointment to the office of precinct committeeman in the Tonto Basin precinct; Suzanne Joan Covert for appointment to the office of precinct committeeman in the Payson #2 precinct; Ruby Diane Green for appointment to the office of precinct committeeman in the Payson #3 precinct; Lynnette Brouwer for appointment to the office of precinct committeeman in the Payson #6 precinct; and Judith Rae Tolle for appointment to the office of precinct committeeman in the Zane Grey precinct for appointments by the Board of Supervisors to serve as a Precinct Committeemen. Upon review of the precinct committeemen allotment table it has been determined that vacancies exist for the Democratic party.

Recommendation

The Elections Director submits that the Board of Supervisors approve the requested appointments as stated above.

Approval of the following precinct committeemen appointments, which have been determined to exist upon review of the precinct committeemen allotment table for the Democratic Party as submitted by Lynette Brouwer, Gila County Democratic Committee Chairman: Ashley Lorraine Dixon-Globe #1 Precinct; Jeanne Kathleen Polenz-Globe #4 Precinct; Theresa Whitfill McCarville-Tonto Basin Precinct; Frank Drinker Whiteside-Tonto Basin Precinct; Suzanne Joan Covert-Payson #2 Precinct; Ruby Diane Green-Payson #3 Precinct; Lynnette Brouwer-Payson #6 Precinct; and Judith Rae Tolle-Zane Grey Precinct.
